American Viticultural Area located in El Dorado County,California ,USA . Wine grape growers in the region produceZinfandel ,Cabernet Sauvignon , andMerlot and are beginning to plant the Rhônevarietal s. Located in thefoothill s of the Sierra Nevada mountains, vineyards are found atelevation s between convert|1200|ft|m|0 and convert|3500|ft|m|0above sea level and some of the best vineyards are planted above convert|2000|ft|m|0 elevation. The region benefits from the cool breezes that come off the mountains and push hot air off the vines and down to the valley.
