- Gimborn Castle
Gimborn Castle is a former
moated castle situated in a remote valley of the upperLeppe in the municipality ofMarienheide in theOberbergischer Kreis ofNorth Rhine-Westphalia ,Germany .Gimborn Castle was pledged in
1273 to the Count of the Mark by the Count of Berg. From1631 it was a residence of the ruling Gimborn-Neustadt family, a branch of the Schwarzenbergs. Since1874 the castle has belonged to the Barons von Fürstenberg zu Gimborn.Today the castle is used as a conference site and meeting place of the
International Police Association . Once a year the castle hosts the archery festival of the Gimborn Saint Sebastian archery club.
