The myth that Iceland is the "largest exporter of bananas in Europe" is not supported by figures from the Icelandic government's statistical body, nor any other source. In fact, the total area used for banana production is approximately 1000m2, significantly less than that for tomatoes, cucumbers or roses. However, this idea persists, as a result of being the subject of a question on the BBC's QI programme.
