Anne Rosemary Smith

Anne Rosemary Smith (31 August 1941 – 9 November 1993) was a sprinter and middle distance runner, who specialised in the 1500m and mile events. She represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic games, reaching the final in the 800m event (women were not permitted to run any distance longer than 800m at this time). She finished the final in 8th position with a time of 2:05.8, over 4 seconds behind team-mate Ann Packer, who won the gold medal and recorded a world record time of 2:01.1.
