Philip Wroughton DL (
6 April 1846 –7 June 1910 ) was a British landowner and Conservative politician fromBerkshire .Born at
Ibstone inBuckinghamshire , Wroughton was the son of Philip Wroughton (1805-1862) and his wife Blanche Norris, and inherited from his father the manors ofBrightwalton [cite web | title=Brightwalton Parish History | url=http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=62680 | accessdate=2007-12-16] ,Chaddleworth , and Woolley.cite web | title=Chaddleworth with Woolley Parish History | url=http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=62696 | accessdate=2007-12-16]Wroughton married Evelyn Mary Neeld on
4 February 1875 . They lived at Woolley Park and had eight children, including:
*Dorothy Florence Mary Wroughton, married Rev. Herbert Lavallin Puxley of Llethr Llestri inCarmarthenshire
*Mary St Quintin Wroughton (d.9 December 1974 ), marriedThomas Robins, 1st Baron Robins in 1912
*Philip Musgrave Neeld Wroughton (k.a.19 April 1917 , in Palestine)He represented Berkshire in the House of Commons from 1876 until the division of that constituency in 1885, and then sat for the borough of Abingdon until 1895.
Upon his death in 1910, his son Philip inherited his estate, but was killed in 1917 during the
Sinai and Palestine Campaign . Michael Lavallin Puxley, nephew of the younger Philip, then inherited the estate and changed his surname to Wroughton. Michael became the father ofPhilip Lavallin Wroughton , appointedLord Lieutenant of Berkshire in 1995, and Michael's younger brother John became the father ofJames Puxley , appointedHigh Sheriff of Berkshire for 2000-2001.References
