Philip Lavallin Wroughton

Sir Philip Lavallin Wroughton, KCVO (born 19 April 1933) was the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire from 1995 until 2008.

Sir Philip is the son of Michael Lavallin Wroughton (alias Puxley) Esq of Woolley Park at Chaddleworth in Berkshire and his wife, Elizabeth Angela Rate. He was educated at Eton College and became 2nd Lieutenant in the King's Royal Rifle Corps. Mr Wroughton worked in the City of London, eventually becoming Vice-Chairman of one of the World's largest insurance and investment management businesses, Marsh & McLennan Companies of New York. He inherited his father's Woolley estate in 1972 and, in 1995, was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire.

He was appointed Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO) in the 2008 New Year Honours, and retired as Lord Lieutenant in April 2008. [ [http://www.number-10.gov.uk/output/Page15229.asp Lord-Lieutenant for the Royal County of Berkshire] ]
