Gerry Conway (born September 11, 1947 in
King's Lynn ,Norfolk ) is an English rockdrummer , best known for having performed with the band Jethro Tull during the 1980s. Before this he was the drummer for the bandFotheringay as well as forEclection (other members included Kerrilee Male,Georg Kajanus (as George Hultgreen), Michael Rosen andTrevor Lucas ). In their early years,Steeleye Span also drafted on the services of Conway who was a friend of the band; he played on their now-classic "Dark-Eyed Sailor". His studio works also include the debut solo albums ofSandy Denny andShelagh McDonald and appearances on albums byWizz Jones . He toured and recorded as a member ofCat Stevens ' band for 6 years. In late 2007 he recorded percussion parts onDan Crisp 's debut album 'Far From Here'.Gerry is currently the drummer in
Fairport Convention (on a regular basis since 1999) and Pentangle (occasionally). He is married to Pentangle's singer,Jacqui McShee . He has also been playing with another old bandmate from theCat Stevens days; Alun Davies, who was Stevens' guitarist, from 1970-1977, in the band, "Good Men in the Jungle", which features Davies' daughter, Becky Moncurr.External links
