- Butyrate kinase
In
enzymology , a butyrate kinase (EC number|2.7.2.7) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :ATP + butanoate ADP + butanoyl phosphate
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are ATP and
butanoate , whereas its two products are ADP andbutanoyl phosphate .This enzyme belongs to the family of
transferase s, specifically those transferring phosphorus-containing groups (phosphotransferase s) with a carboxy group as acceptor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is ATP:butanoate 1-phosphotransferase. This enzyme participates inbutanoate metabolism .tructural studies
As of late 2007, two structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|1SAZ and PDB link|1X9J.
