Putfile accepts files in most common video, music, audio, and image formats. There is a 5 MB image size limit. File size maximums for videos and Flash files have repeatedly been increased and as of July 2007, the maximum file size is 200MB.
Media can be rated on a scale from 1 (worst) to 5 (best). Statistics are kept on the number of views a file has and its average rating. The site provides links to the highest rated and most viewed media.
Registration is free. As of December 2005, text ads are being sold on Putfile.
Viewing media
The photo upload tool allows users to upload multiple photos at once with an easy to use thumbnail preview mode. Once photos for upload have been selected they are automatically resized and then uploaded to an album of your choosing. Motion in GIF format images tend to be dysfunctional.
Uploaded video, flash, and audio files are available at the URL "

Audio files are played throughWindows Media Player , while mov and wmv file types are now converted to the flv format and are played in putfile's flash player created by Anssi, the developer of FlowPlayer [http://www.putfile.com/thankyou.php/] .Putfile prohibits the uploading of pornographic or offensive material [http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2704,1871390,00.asp] . Anything that does get through the system may be reported for a Terms of Service violation by individual members.
