- Anthranilate phosphoribosyltransferase
In
enzymology , an anthranilate phosphoribosyltransferase (EC number|2.4.2.18) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :N-(5-phospho-D-ribosyl)-anthranilate + diphosphate anthranilate + 5-phospho-alpha-D-ribose 1-diphosphate
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are
N-(5-phospho-D-ribosyl)-anthranilate anddiphosphate , whereas its two products areanthranilate and5-phospho-alpha-D-ribose 1-diphosphate .This enzyme belongs to the family of
glycosyltransferase s, specifically the pentosyltransferases. The systematic name of this enzyme class is N-(5-phospho-D-ribosyl)-anthranilate:diphosphate phospho-alpha-D-ribosyltransferase. Other names in common use include phosphoribosyl-anthranilate pyrophosphorylase, PRT, anthranilate 5-phosphoribosylpyrophosphate, phosphoribosyltransferase, anthranilate phosphoribosylpyrophosphate phosphoribosyltransferase, phosphoribosylanthranilate pyrophosphorylase, phosphoribosylanthranilate transferase, and anthranilate-PP-ribose-P phosphoribosyltransferase. This enzyme participates inphenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis andtwo-component system - general .tructural studies
As of late 2007, 12 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|1GXB, PDB link|1KGZ, PDB link|1KHD, PDB link|1O17, PDB link|1V8G, PDB link|1VQU, PDB link|1ZVW, PDB link|1ZXY, PDB link|1ZYK, PDB link|2BPQ, PDB link|2ELC, and PDB link|2GVQ.
