This album = "Tha Carter" (2004)
Next album = "Tha Carter II " (2005)"Tha Carter" is a 2004 rap album by American rapper
Lil Wayne . The bulk of the album was produced byCash Money Records 's former in-house producer,Mannie Fresh . The album has sold approximately 3.1 Million copies worldwide"Tha Carter" preceded Lil Wayne's work in "Tha Drought" mixtape and "Tha Prefix" mixtape, where he freestyled over "The Black Album". "Tha Carter" peaked at number five on the 2004 "Billboard" 200, and at number two on the "Billboard" Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
A separate version of the album, "The Carter (Screwed and Chopped)," was produced by
Michael 5000 Watts ofSwishahouse . There is also an "edited" version with profanity and sexual- and drug-related lyrics removed. The album is loosely based around the mansion owned by Lil Wayne; "Walk In", "Inside" and "Walk Out" all feature Wayne describing his lavish home. "Tha Carter" is generally considered Lil Wayne's "break out" album, due to the obvious maturity in both his subject matter and delivery compared to his first three albums.Track listing
