Service history

"Almaz" was commissioned into the Baltic Fleet in 1903. She took part in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) and fought at the Battle of Tsushima. In 1907 she was reclassified as an Aviso. In 1911 she was part of the Black Sea Fleet, and was rebuilt as a seaplane tender in 1914. In 1920 she was interned at Bizerta with the remainder of Tsarist Wrangel Fleet.
