Charles K. Herman

Charles K. Herman is a plastic surgeon and research scientist in New York City and Pennsylvania. He is the Director of Plastic Surgery and Chairman of the Surgery Service Line at Pocono Health Systems in Pennsylvania, Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, and in the private practice of plastic surgery in Manhattan.

Dr. Herman has published several chapters in medical textbooks on nutrition in surgical patients, rhinoplasty, breast surgery, and flap reconstruction. He has contributed articles to the international scientific literature on breast surgery, body contouring, and microsurgery, and has been involved in work in the field of photodynamic cancer therapy, for which he received a national research prize from the American College of Physicians in 1998. His research interests include development of new materials for breast implants and other prosthetic devices, including novel polymeric coatings and shells for prostheses, and photodynamic laser treatment of skin cancer.
