Love 22 (born Lawrence Wagner) is a perennial Independent Greenback
Rhode Island gubernatorial and U.S. Presidential candidate. A street entertainer inKey West, Florida , he is an enthusiastic numerologist who believes that the number 22 is of the utmost significance. In1976 he legally changed his name, giving a judge in Providence 22 reasons for doing so. He prints $22 bills and folds them intoorigami shapes (see Key West's [http://www.sunsetcelebration.org/links.htm Sunset Celebration] ). Each bill carries an alphanumeric key which gives numeric equivalents for each alphabet letter; Love believes that significant phrases have alphanumeric values adding up to 22. Love has twice been acquitted of counterfeiting charges related to printing his $22 bills, which he sells to finance his Presidential aspirations. His presidential platform, it should be noted, contains 22 planks.He is an alumnus of
Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity and aBoston Red Sox fan.Because his $22 bills bear the phrase, "this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private, " Mr. 22 was indicted by the federal government on charges of
counterfeiting . The charges were dismissed in federal court on the grounds that since there is no such thing as a 22 dollar bill, it is impossible to counterfeit what doesn't exist.External links
