- Action of 6 July 1697
This series of battles took place in
1697 when the Venetian fleet, under Contarini, hunted down the Turkish fleet in theAegean Sea . The actions took place onJuly 6 near Lemnos, on1 September between Andros and Euboea and on20 September south of Euboea. Both sides had about twenty six battleships as well as several smaller vessels. Casualties for Venice were seventy one killed and 163 wounded in the first battle and 191 killed and 516 wounded in the last.The following ships were involved:
