- Nancy Makin
Nancy Makin, (b. 1956), gained fame in December 2007 when she was invited onto the Oprah Winfrey show to share her 500 pound weight loss story.
Makin is a particularly noteworthy example of the widespread use of group weight-loss support, and also an example of an individual who has used portion control as the only means to lose weight (as opposed to exercise, diet pills, macro nutrient elimination (low-carb), surgery and other mechanisms).
Low cost weight loss
The Makin approach makes it possible for anyone to lose weight "for free", as no surgery, medications or other expenses are incurred in the program.
