History
The band formed in 2006 following the break-up of Les Incompétents. Singer Frederick Blood-Royale, guitarist Jareth and bassist Thomas Gunnzs were joined on drums by Tobi O'Kandi, lead singer of O. Children. After demos were recorded, O'Kandi left to be replaced by Eduard Quarmby. Transgressive Records issued their debut single, "Motherhood/Fatherhood", (produced by Gordon Raphael) but the band remain unsigned.
They have played with Four Tet, Bono Must Die, The Polyphonic Spree, These New Puritans, Emmy The Great and have toured with Lightspeed Champion and The Scare.
They are not currently planning on recording an album, but instead a trilogy of EPs, or "Opera"; "The Lay Of the Land, The Turn Of The Tide" being Opus 1 and "Obscured By a Setting Sun" being Opus 2, which was released in November 2008. A box set of all three, plus other material has been mentioned as a possibility for the future.
The band are renowned for re-cycling guitar riffs from songs by early 80's Scottish band Scars.
MTV2 UK
As of mid-2008 Frederick Blood-Royale is a presenter/reporter for MTV2 UK.[citation needed] Among other things he has interviewed Slipknot and Fall Out Boy, as well as reporting from the 2008 Benicassim festival. He also appeared on the MTV2 Review of the Year (2008, 2009). After a negative comment was made towards Biffy Clyro on air, Frederick encountered the band at a nightclub in London, where he spent the evening attempting to avoid them, before eventually being approached and reprimanded by singer Simon Neil and drummer Ben Johnston. He apologised.
