DEP International Studios is a recording studio situated in Digbeth, Birmingham, UK. Designed by Recording Architecture, the studio is owned by dub music band UB40 [1]. Situated in Birmingham's Eastside area, it still exists today.
Specification
DEP Studios consists of two main studios.
Studio One
Studio One is a 48-channel analogue studio with full MIDI capabilities [2]. It is here that UB40 recorded their Promises and Lies album in 1993. Studio One was built in 1991.
Studio Two
Studio Two is a 24-channel studio primarily aimed towards bands seeking affordable package deals.
Education
Aside from commercial recording, DEP also offers courses in collaboration with Pato Banton's Muzik Links programme under the banner of "EQUAL". These courses are targeted towards the youth community and offer education in DJing, vocal skills and sound engineering [3].
