Zain Amat

Zain Amat (born May 10, 1975) is a trap shooter from Singapore. He was educated in the prestigious Raffles Institution and later moved on to Nanyang Junior College.

Zain Amat has been representing Singapore in shotgun since 2004. He specialises in Olympic Double Trap and quickly rises to become an important and prominent athlete of the Singapore Clay Shooting Team.

In the 23rd Southeast Asia Games (SEA Games) in Philippines (2005), Zain Amat performed beyond expectations when he won an individual gold medal in Olympic Double Trap in his maiden major competition.

His excellent form continued in the recent 24th edition of the SEA Games 2007 in Thailand. Zain Amat, having switched to Olympic Trap from mid-2006, won the individual and team Olympic Trap event in a nail biting final; ousting teammate Lee Wung Yew and Thailand's Atig Kitcharoen for the individual gold medal. In addition, Zain Amat is also part of the team that won the Olympic Double Trap team gold medal a few days later. In all, he grabbed 3 gold medals. With this excellent achievement, Zain Amat, together with teammates Lee Wung Yew and Choo Choon Seng, became a select group of SEA Games shooting athlete who have won both individual trap and double trap titles.

Zain Amat is a Malay Singaporean and currently resides in Singapore.

He has won the Meritorious Award for Sports (2006) for his achievements.

He is mentioned as one of the prominent Malays in Malays in Singapore.
