United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 1.0square mile s (2.5km² ), of which, 0.9 square miles (2.4 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (3.09%) is water.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,650 people, 711 households, and 430 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 1,752.6 people per square mile (677.7/km²). There were 812 housing units at an average density of 862.5/sq mi (333.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.61% White, 0.79% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.73% from other races, and 1.52% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.70% of the population.There were 711 households out of which 27.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.2% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.5% were non-families. 34.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.92.
In the city the population was spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 23.2% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 22.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 96.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.9 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $30,595, and the median income for a family was $38,869. Males had a median income of $29,000 versus $17,596 for females. The
