Kansai International Film Festival

The Kansai International Film Festival is a film festival in Osaka, Japan.

The festival was started in 2007 and founded by Kansai Time Out writer, Matthew Kaufman, and Kobe-based film director, Darryl Knickrehm.cite web|author=Variety|title=Osaka launches debut Kansai film fest|url=http://www.varietyasiaonline.com/content/view/1628/53/|date=July 7, 2007|publisher=via Variety Asia|accessdate=2007-12-04] The festival featured a lineup of "Japanese films made by foreign filmmakers." It was the first film festival in Japan of the like. The festival featured 32 films from around the world. Some of the films featured at the festival were Pamela Valente's "Rock N Tokyo", Norman England's "The iDol (film)", Darryl Knickrehm's "The Laborer (Rodosha)", and Rachael Lucas' "Bondi Tsunami" [cite web|author=Cinematical|title=Cultures to Clash at Kansai Film Fest|url=http://www.cinematical.com/tag/kansai/|date=July 14, 2007|publisher=via Cinematical|accessdate=2007-12-04]

The 2007 festival took place at Planet Station in Osaka, Japan with funding from the Osaka-fu government. The 2008 festival is yet to be determined.
