The Kansai International Film Festival is a film festival in Osaka, Japan.
The festival was started in 2007 and founded by Kansai Time Out writer, Matthew Kaufman, and Kobe-based film director, Darryl Knickrehm.[cite web|author=Variety|title=Osaka launches debut Kansai film fest|url=http://www.varietyasiaonline.com/content/view/1628/53/|date=July 7, 2007|publisher=via Variety Asia|accessdate=2007-12-04] The festival featured a lineup of "Japanese films made by foreign filmmakers." It was the first film festival in Japan of the like. The festival featured 32 films from around the world.]The 2007 festival took place at Planet Station in Osaka, Japan with funding from the Osaka-fu government. The 2008 festival is yet to be determined.
