Yazoo (drink)

Yazoo (drink)

Yazoo is a bottled flavoured milk, or milkshake, produced by Campina and is sold in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Advertisements (and the bottles themselves) used to feature a green dinosaur mascot named Dino, similar to Nesquik's Quicky the rabbit. It comes in four flavours: Banana, Chocolate, Strawberry, Vanilla.

Bottle sizes range from 200ml (sold in packs of four), 475ml (500g, found in the chiller department) and 1 litre (this size not available for vanilla ice-cream). The smaller plastic bottles usually have transparent straws glued to the side inside a transparent plastic wrapper. The PE bottle is recyclable, helping efforts to improve recycling.

The Campina website describes Yazoo as "The ultimate dairy drink experience" and gives a short history of the drink:"Campina Yazoo is the market leading bottled milkshake in the UK, with over 80 million bottles sold each year. Introduced in 1989 as a flavoured milk drink for young children, the brand has grown consistently and now is drunk by kids (and grown ups) of all ages. Campina Yazoo is also available in Ireland, in Belgium and in a number of other countries. Since 2003, the brand has been the main sponsor of the SFi (Schools Football Initiative) in the UK, promoting an active healthy lifestyle and delivering sports training to over 400,000 children in schools across the country."

Yazoo is a 'sterilised' milk drink made with skimmed and whole milk. It is suitable for vegetarians, is a good source of Calcium, Protein and Vitamins B2 and B12. It is low in fat (max. 1.3%) and contains no artificial sweeteners, colours or preservatives.

The drink is meant to be shaken before consumed.

Yazoo reported a 20% increase in sales after R&B artist Kelis released her single Milkshake.
