- Rozzlyn Rangers
Rozzlyn Rangers were a short-lived, comedic
punk rock band fromWashington, D.C. in the early 1980s. ComprisingIan MacKaye of the legendary hardcore bandMinor Threat (later of seminal 90s rock actFugazi ),Sab Grey ofIron Cross , Nathan Strejcek (Teen Idles , Youth Brigade) and Rich Moore, the Rozzlyn Rangers are only known to have recorded one song ("Rozzlyn Rangers") which remained rare and unreleased untilDischord Records released their "20 Years Of Dischord" box set in 2004, which contained the song on the set's disc of rarities and unreleased tracks. The song "Rozzlyn Rangers" has been referred to as the "Dischord House Theme Song," referring to the house thatDischord Records runs their business out of. At the time, several young members of the early-80s D.C.hardcore punk scene lived at the house and held practice for their bands. The label was founded in 1980 byIan MacKaye and Jeff Nelson, then ofThe Teen Idles .Sources: "American Hardcore" (book) by Steven Blush, www.dischord.com, and the liner notes of the Dischord Records release "20 Years Of Dischord."
