- Order of Saint Anthony (Ethiopia)
-
The Order of Saint Anthony was an Ethiopian chivalric order founded by legend in 370 by the Negus known in the western world as Prester John of Ethiopia.[citation needed] In reality, exact date of origin was unknown, but probably around 16th century.[citation needed]
It is bestowed exclusively on clerics. Its members were considered part of a brotherhood. There were two different grades, that of the Knight Grand Cross (KGCA), and that of the Companion (CA).[citation needed]
It was later awarded, during the late Middle Ages, by kings and archbishops.
