It is located on the eastern edge of Modesto, California. The station has one platform which serves a single track; there is also a station house adjacent to the platform. A free unattended parking lot is available, as well as local bus service provided by Modesto Area Express.
Before November 1999, trains stopped instead in Riverbank, about 4 miles north [1].
Of the 73 California stations served by Amtrak, Modesto was the 27th-busiest in FY2010, boarding or detraining an average of approximately 270 passengers daily.[2]
