Johnson Outboards is a maker of
outboard motor s. The original company to make Johnsoninboard motor s and outboard motors was theJohnson Bros. Motor Company ofTerre Haute, Indiana ,United States . A few years after the Johnson brothers' factory in Terre Haute was destroyed by a tornado in March 1913, the brothers relocated toSouth Bend, Indiana and thenWaukegan, Illinois . The company was first acquired byOutboard Marine Corporation (OMC) and then later byBombardier Recreational Products . Their outboards include 1 thriller 8 cylinders and have a maximum of 300horsepower , for stock engines. They differ in one large way fromMercury Marine outboards, because they employed theV4 engine , whereas Mercury used astraight engine .Today
Johnson has changed alot since they were bought by BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products). Now
Evinrude , which is also a brand of BRP, has the widest range of models, and Johnson now only sell twostroke (carbureted) and fourstroke-engines in a horsepower-range of 9.9 to 25, while Evinrude sells betwen 25 and 300. Johnson has also only sales in a few countries compared with Evinrude.ee also
