Manhunt is the third episode of the first season of Canadian television series "Due South". It was directed by Paul Lynch and written by Paul Haggis.

Plot

The episode starts with a truck driving through the (opened) gates of the "White Island Maximum Security Prison" in north west Canada, after the truck passed the gates we see the driver getting attacked from the back and another person (the bad guy) taking his seat. Then we see Sergeant Buck Frobisher (a close friend of Fraser's father) getting a call from this bad guy that asks: "How's your leg?". Sgt. Frobisher is assuming the person who's calling as someone named Geiger. Continuing we see Sgt. Frobisher paying some cash and his watch to a garbage boat runner to smuggle him illegally into the USA.

The scene changes to Chicago. Frobisher's daughter, Julie, seeks out Fraser and tells him about the sudden disappear of her father, and asks him for help. Fraser asks Ray to help him find Frobisher.

The garbage boat runner first denies the fact that he brought Frobisher away, but when Fraser tells him the watch the guy is wearing is an RCMP watch, the captain points them at the St. John Hotel. At the St. John Hotel Fraser meets Frobisher, who doesn't treat him very well. Now we see Fraser reading his father's journal with the part where he tells the story about him and Frobisher. That one day Robert was trapped in a bear trap, got is leg out but didn't made his way home, until Buck came and saved him.

The next day Ray tells Fraser that they are looking for Harold Geiger, who already killed 10 people and tried to kill Frobisher but fell down a cliff, Frobisher grabbed his arm at the last moment, Geiger stabbed him in his leg, but somehow Frobisher pulled him up and arrested him.Fraser talks to Frobisher one more time, about a witness protection program, but Frobisher doesn't want any help. The next day he changes his mind and takes two horses to go to Fraser and catch Geiger together. Together with Ray they search for information and find some possible co-bad guys, but before being able to search the complete list it's night and everyone goes to bed. Sgt. Frobisher gets back to the St. John's Hotel. He leaves to go to his own place but remembers not seeing the door-guard who (when he returns) is murdered by Geiger.

Fraser runs to Frobisher's room, where a fight between Geiger and Frobisher is already going on,when Geiger spots Fraser he jumps out of the window.

First a chase and later a fights between Geiger and Fraser starts which is won by Geiger because he stabs Fraser in his leg (it seems to be some kind of habit.)

Before Geiger has a chance to kill Fraser, Diefenbaker comes running to him, barking, Geiger leaves the place. Fraser is alright, but has to recover in a hospital so Geiger is on the loose for a while, well, he doesn't really hide, because we already see him disguised as a cop walking into the hospital, knocking down a guard, climbing up the elevator shaft and eventually coming in to Fraser's room where a fight between Frobisher (who just was in Fraser's room) and Geiger starts. It's noticed by Fraser, who immediately takes of his tubes and all the other stuff to help Frobisher. He's too late, Geiger escaped again (through the elevator shaft) 'cause of Ray who was pointing a gun at him. They still chase him until they get to an old factory, where Geiger and some other guys hide. They get inside by using the sewer.

Inside the factory they all take one person at the time. When everybody is passed out except for Geiger (who's still fighting with Frobisher) Geiger almost falls down, but is grabbed by Frobisher at the last moment, (Déjà vu) he tries to stab him, but he is stopped by Frobisher, who says: "not this time." and arrests him.

At the end of the episode we see Fraser and Frobisher both ride away on horses.
