Frances Rivera (born 1970) is a
Filipino-American Emmy Award -winningjournalist andtelevision news anchor for Boston'sNBC affiliateWHDH . Prior to joining WHDH Rivera worked atCBS affiliateKWTV inOklahoma City, Oklahoma and NBC affiliateKFDX inWichita Falls, Texas . Rivera also worked off camera inNew York City for CBS News' "The Morning Show " and covered the 1996 Presidential campaign. She was also a co-host and reporter for thePBS show "Asian America ".When she was three years old, she and her family, including her two brothers, moved from the
Philippines toAustin, Texas . Sometime afterward, they moved and settled in Dallas. She was sent by her family to finish her studies in the Philippines which she did, receiving her bachelor's degree in journalism from theUniversity of the Philippines . This also helped her appreciate more fully and learn more about her Filipino heritage and culture which she enjoyed and loved. After graduation she returned to the United States to take a job atCBS Morning News in New York City.In 2003, Frances married Stuart Fraass, a Boston
mortgage broker , and in 2006 she was promoted to the news anchor chair at WHDH TV.Besides her ability and interest in cooking, doing a TV news segment called "The Dish", she is very active in numerous charities in and around Boston. [cf. Diaz, 2007. She was in Boston's
