CreativeIT

CreativeIT

CreativeIT is a research program by the National Science Foundation. The goal of the CreativeIT Program is to fund research that focuses on creativity to produce simultaneous advances in both computer science and creative cognition, creativity support tools, engineering design or science.[1]

Goals

The ability of information technology to support people in communicating and working together remotely may offer new ways in working together creatively. Therefore, the program aims at exploring the role computer science can play in extending human ability to think creatively and solve problems. Additionally, the program strives to explore the role creativity plays in computer science research. Its scope is made up by creative computational processes, innovative approaches to education that encourage creativity, innovative modes of research that include creative professionals, and new technology to support human creativity.[1] Grants are provided in different sizes, ranging from major to minor projects to be founded.

Resources

To create, build, and sustain a community around the CreativeIT program, researchers from the Center for LifeLong Learning and Design (L3D) at the University of Colorado have started a CreativeIT wiki serving as a community platform for all interested in "Creativity and IT" research.[2] In this wiki, people share and discuss their sources and ideas for creativity in computer science research. The wiki is open for all interested readers and contributors.
