Acetylxylan esterase

Acetylxylan esterase

In enzymology, an acetylxylan esterase (EC number|3.1.1.72) is an enzyme that catalyzes a chemical reaction, the deacetylation of xylans and xylo-oligosaccharides.

This enzyme belongs to the family of hydrolases, specifically those acting on carboxylic ester bonds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is likewise acetylxylan esterase.
