Marisa Burke is main co-anchor at
WNEP-TV in theWilkes-Barre /Scranton DMA.Burke is a native of Central Pennsylvania. She was born and raised in Danville,
Pennsylvania . She graduated in 1982 fromIthaca College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio and Television Communications.Burke began her broadcasting career in June of
1980 as ananchor ,reporter and producer for WHLM-AM and WHLM-FM radio in Bloomsburg. Later that summer, Marisa accepted a position as a reporter for WSLS-TV in Roanoke,Virginia and worked there for two years. She was quickly promoted to weekend anchor/producer and then to weekday co-anchor of the 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.Burke joined WNEP-TV in April
1984 as an anchor/reporter of the morning and noon newscasts. She is now the anchor of Newswatch 16 at 6 and 11 p.m.Burke is involved in many station-sponsored charity events including St. Joseph's Telethon, the
Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, theRace for the Cure , Feed a Friend,Toys for Tots and Coats for Kids. She also hosts the Greater Scranton Jaycee's Santa Parade.Burke has also been involved in WNEP-TV community projects including the distribution of free Vial of Life kits and colo-rectal
cancer screening tests.Burke makes around 100 personal appearances a year.
Burke is married to Mark Kandel, an educator, and has two daughters, Rachael and Sarah.
