This song appears on the EP For Youand is the group's comeback record since their 1981 singleTingalingaling and was recorded by a new formation: (Marga Scheide , the only originalLuv' singer and two new members,Michelle Gold andDiana van Berlo ).ong History
In November 1988, the original Luv' girls (Scheide, Hoebee and Brard) reunited for a Dutch TV charity show (Samen) and performed their biggest hit
You're The Greatest Lover . This comeback was unexpected and provoked an enthusiastic reaction among the trio's fans.Luv' planned to record new material. The famous British producersStock Aitken Waterman were announced to produce it. However, this project never happened. Inearly 1989,José Hoebee andPatty Brard didn't want to belong to the group anymore. Marga Scheide formed a newLuv' act with two other singers:Michelle Gold andDiana van Berlo . The ladies signed a record deal with the Dutch labels Dureco/High Hashion Music.Hans van Hemert andPiet Souer , who originally conceived theLuv' concept, were not involved in this version of the female formation. With the help from Marga's partner,Jacques Zwart (a.k.a E. Mergency), a new musical direction was chosen and the British producerNigel Wright was hired to produced new recordings. Wright was a veteran of the English Dance scene thanks to the hits he produced forShakatak , Imagination, Mirage and other bands. Luv' recorded in London a mini-album ("For You") which was inspired by thePWL sound which dominated the European music production in the late 1980s. Dureco/High Fashion Music decided to release the Pop-Dance song "Welcome To My Party" as a single to mark the return of Luv'. This track was a Top 30 in the Netherlands and in Flanders (Begium).Chart performance
Welcome to My Party was more a club hit than a mainstream chart topper. It was a moderate Top 30 song in the Dutch speaking area.
