Saint Wenceslas Cathedral (Czech language: "Katedrála svatého Václava") is a neo-gothic cathedral at Wenceslas square in Olomouc, in the Czech Republic. The square was named after Saint Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia in anniversary of thousand year of his death in 1935 and the cathedral is named after him too.
History
It has origin in Roman basilica consecrated in 1131.
Gothic changes in turn of 13th and 14th century.
There was murdered Czech king Wenceslaus III of Bohemia in near house of former deanery on August 4, 1306. Wenceslaus III. was the last of the male Přemyslid rulers of Bohemia.
1883–1892 - gothic revival changes designed by Gustav Meretta and R. Völkel.
February 2004 - 2007 reconstruction of the cathedral.
Architecture
Its main tower is tall 100,65 meters (328 feet) and so it is the 4th tallest building in the Czech Republic.
