Pride of Bruges is a
ferry that is part of theTranseuropa Ferries fleet. It has also been known as Pride of Picardy and as Oleander. The latter is its current name.It has had two
sister ship s and is part of the Spirit class. One of her sister ships, theHerald of Free Enterprise , capsized near the Belgianport of Bruges-Zeebrugge in 1987.She was built in 1980 and currently sails between
Ramsgate ,Kent ,UK andOstend , West-Flanders, Belgium. She completes the journey in about four hours.She has a service speed of 22 knots and room for about 300-400 cars.
Previously, the ferry primarily sailed the
English Channel route betweenDover andCalais , until it was sold byP&O Ferries , which decided to downsize and keep only its largest ships.Another
P&O Ferries ship, the Norsun sailing from Hull was renamed to Pride of Bruges while her sistership Norsea was renamed toPride of York
