Pride of Bruges

Pride of Bruges

Pride of Bruges is a ferry that is part of the Transeuropa Ferries fleet. It has also been known as Pride of Picardy and as Oleander. The latter is its current name.

It has had two sister ships and is part of the Spirit class. One of her sister ships, the Herald of Free Enterprise, capsized near the Belgian port of Bruges-Zeebrugge in 1987.

She was built in 1980 and currently sails between Ramsgate, Kent, UK and Ostend, West-Flanders, Belgium. She completes the journey in about four hours.

She has a service speed of 22 knots and room for about 300-400 cars.

Previously, the ferry primarily sailed the English Channel route between Dover and Calais, until it was sold by P&O Ferries, which decided to downsize and keep only its largest ships.

Another P&O Ferries ship, the Norsun sailing from Hull was renamed to Pride of Bruges while her sistership Norsea was renamed to Pride of York
