The Four Points by Sheraton, previously known as the Golden Sands Tower, is a 43-floor hotel tower in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The building, constructed of steel and glass, cite web|url=http://www.arabianbusiness.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8932&Itemid=1|title=Starwood's Four Point plan for Dubai|accessdate=2007-11-16|last=Greenwood|first=Gemma|publisher=ArabianBusiness.com] has a total structural height of 166 m (545 ft), and currently stands as the 40th-tallest structure in the Dubai.Cite web|title=Four Points by Sheraton|url=http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=goldensandstower-dubai-unitedarabemirates|accessdate=2007-11-12|publisher=Emporis.com] Construction of the tower began in 2005 and was completed in early 2007, but it has not yet officially opened. As of late 2007, an opening date for the 406-room [cite web|url=http://www.ameinfo.com/112375.html|title=Two new Four Points by Sheraton Hotels poised to join the skyline of Dubai|accessdate=2007-11-07|publisher=AMEInfo.com] hotel has been scheduled for January 1, 2008. The hotel will be operated by Four Points by Sheraton, and will stand as one of the tallest all-hotel structures in the city upon completion. However, the building will not surpass the Burj Al Arab or the Rose Tower to become the tallest hotel in Dubai. The Four Points by Sheraton is one of several recently completed skyscrapers to rise along Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road.

History

The Four Points by Sheraton was originally proposed for construction as the Golden Sands Tower.cite web|url=http://www.skyscrapercity.info/100.php?id=13&bid=1708|title=Golden Sands Tower|accessdate=2007-11-16|publisher=SkyscraperCity.com] The building was designed as a 43 floor all-residential apartment tower; it began construction in 2004, with a set estimated completion date of 2006. Starwood Hotels & Resorts entered the project after construction had already begun, and the building was subsequently renamed Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road. The building plans were revised to provide for the addition of a Four Points by Sheraton hotel, and the tower was redesigned to contain both hotel and residential units, [cite web|url=http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=34674|title=Four Points by Sheraton|accessdate=2007-11-16|publisher=SkyscraperPage.com] as well as a helipad. However, plans for the inclusion of residential units were later abandoned. The building was structurally completed in early 2007 and fully completed later that year.

The Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road is one of two hotels operated by the Sheraton Four Points brand that have been constructed in Dubai, the other being the Four Points by Sheraton Downtown Dubai. These two towers are the first Four Point hotels to be be constructed in the Middle East, and are part of a major campaign by Starwood Hotels & Resorts to expand the Four Points brand to more international locations.

The Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed features 390 guest rooms and suites with views of Sheikh Zayed Road or the coastline. The hotel has an "at home" dining room located on the Mezzanine Level which features Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine. A pub and Moroccan Lounge is also located within the hotel.
