- İbrahim Parlak
İbrahim Parlak is a Kurdish-American who has been accused by the U.S. Government of being a former member of the PKK, a rebel group that sought to win independence for Parlak's native
Northern Kurdistan from Turkish rule. He was taken into custody by the U.S.Department of Homeland Security onJuly 29 2004 , based on his alleged past ties to the PKK. Parlak won his writ ofhabeas corpus and was released from prison onJune 3 2005 , much to the delight of his hundreds of supporters in his hometown of Harbert,Michigan and elsewhere. The court had originally decided to deport him based on the government's case; he is currently free pending an appeal of that decision.External links
