Aluf Eli (Eliezer) Marom is a vice admiral in the Israel Defense Forces and currently the commander of the Israeli Sea Corps. He is the first Israeli of Chinese descent to rise to the top ranks. Marom was born to a Chinese father from Germany and a Russian emigree in Germany. He studied engineering and began his career in the navy in the 1975 after completing a naval officers course.
