KJQS began as KMUR in the 1960s, airing
contemporary hits , which switched toadult contemporary with the call sign switch to KMOR. From its sign on, the studios and transmitter were located in a field west of I-15 near 4900 South but were torn down later to make way for an indoor amusement park. The station went back on the air as KLAF on1983-06-22 carrying acomedy format. On1986-04-15 , the station changed its call sign to KOLC, airing contemporary hits again. On1986-04-30 the station changed again toKMGR , and on1997-07-11 to KWUN (atalk radio format station) before going silent. On2001-11-01 , the station returned to air, with the the current KJQS calls.
