SWOP

SWOP

US Web-coated SWOP is a generic CMYK ICC color profile. SWOP stands for Specifications for Web Offset Publications. In Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and InDesign the default working space for CMYK is US Web Coated (SWOP).

Basically speaking, if you do work for a client, want the image to be in CMYK, and don't know your client's exact CMYK color profile for whatever device they're printing with, then you use a generic profile. In fact, you use SWOP.
