Carl Dixon (Good times)

Carl Dixon (Good times)

Carl Dixon was the atheist, fictional character who appeared in the last couple of episodes of the 1976—1977 season (Season 4) of the television program, Good Times and he was portrayed by Moses Gunn.

Carl Dixon was born in the United States around the late 1920s, on the series "Good Times", his age was never revealed, however, Carl made his first appearance on the show half of the fourth season, when he own his hardware shop in Chicago, Illinois, and employed Michael Evans, when the Evans family and Willona was confused and discovered that Michael was becoming an atheist, however, this infuriates his mother,Florida as she goes down to the hardware shop, and talk to Carl about firing her son, Carl and Florida decide to battle on each other, starting with screwdrivers, unfortunately, Florida won the battle, and Carl – after admitting he was wrong, speaks to Michael, who comes back from the store, however, Carl silently fired Michael and felt bad, but they reconcile when Carl joins the Evans' family for dinner. And this what he said to Michael:

In the hour-long fourth season finale, "Love Has a Spot on its Lung", focused on Carl when he discovered he had lung cancer, he proposed to Florida, but was too spaced out to speak and mostly slurred all of his words (because he was at a bar getting drunk.), Florida agreed to marry Carl, and they moved to Arizona, the series however left viewers and the studio audience wondering if Carl lost his battle with lung cancer or not. Esther Rolle did not like this character, and appeared in the final season only 2 conditions, if the Carl Dixon character was written out for good, and she had a greater say in the storylines.
