- Hydroxylamine oxidase
In
enzymology , a hydroxylamine oxidase (EC number|1.7.3.4) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :hydroxylamine + O2 nitrite + H2O
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are
hydroxylamine and O2, whereas its two products arenitrite and H2O.This enzyme belongs to the family of
oxidoreductase s, specifically those acting on other nitrogenous compounds as donors with oxygen as acceptor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is hydroxylamine:oxygen oxidoreductase. Other names in common use include HAO and hydroxylamine oxidoreductase. This enzyme participates innitrogen metabolism . It employs one cofactor, heme .tructural studies
As of late 2007, only one structure has been solved for this class of enzymes, with the PDB accession code PDB link|1FGJ.
