California World Music Festival

The California World Music Festival was held on April 7-8, 1979 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

On Sunday April 8, 1979: It was LA punks v. British punks when the Boomtown Rats performed. People threw tomatoes and other debris at the Rats when they played "Like Clockwork." Geldof spewed obsenities at the crowd and they walked off stage. Van Halen was the new gig in town, Aerosmith was outshined. Originally AC/DC were to perform on the 8th, but cancelled a few weeks before the festival and were replaced by April Wine. Cheech & Chong hosted and performed both days.
