Shane walter

Shane Walter is a multi-disciplined producer / director. He established onedotzero limited as co-director of the company in 1997. He has solely directed the organisation and all its activities since 2001.

In 2004 Shane established onedotzero’s sister production company, onedotzero industries where he is creative director and consultant.

Background

Shane's background includes experience as a producer and director across a range of media and industries, from publishing and computer gaming to theatre and contemporary art.

He began in new media in the early 1990s and has worked on multimedia elements and projects with such properties as Lara Croft and "Tomb Raider" for Eidos and 007 for MGM, as well as producing award-nominated online sites.

Work

Shane has commissioned and produced over 60 acclaimed short films, including the award winning "Salary Man 6" [awards include Raindance, Rushes Soho Short Film Award 2002, London Film Festival TCM Awards 2002] . In 2007 Shane finished producing a series of ten short comedy films with Richard Fenwick called "User Guides".

In addition to short films, Shane has co-produced and directed the TV series "onedottv" and the 12-part "onedottv_global" for the UK’s Channel 4. Other production work includes music videos, the animation series "Geek Boy" for the Sci-Fi UK Channel, live tour visuals for the likes of the Rolling Stones, U2, George Michael and Genesis, interactive media, installations and live AV event productions such as The Light Surgeons live cinematic documentary, "All points Between".

In 2001 Shane launched the onedotzero DVD label. His second book and accompanying DVD, Motion Blur 2 is released in January 2008 with Laurence King. It is a follow-up to the top-selling 'Motion Blur, graphic moving imagemakers', published in 2004. He writes articles, lectures and advises educational establishments, and has edited numerous catalogues.

Shane has established a distribution catalogue of short films that markets and sells across a wide range of platforms worldwide. Films include Who I Am And What I Want by Chris Shepherd and David Shrigley, My Wrongs 8245-8249 and 117 by Chris Morris, and Rabbit by Run Wrake.

Shane participates as a speaker, judge and presenter at numerous international events, festivals and arts institutions including the Edinburgh Film Festival and London Film Festival, and industry awards and conferences including Promax Europe and D&AD.

Shane is a member of the Senior Board 2012 Olympics Host Broadcast Training Programme.

Shane acts as consultant and external assessor on the Graduate Diploma for Motion Graphics at the Chelsea College of Art

Shane’s other recent projects include the onedotzero / RIBA London commission, Wind to Light, an installation by Jason Bruges as part of Architecture Week 2007, located on the Southbank, London
