Born inTokyo, Japan , Kurosawa and Taniguchi had been friends since childhood. "The Snow Trial" starredToshiro Mifune and actressSetsuko Wakayama .Taniguchi and Wakayama married in 1949. Kaoru Yachigusa , in 1957. Yachigusa and Taniguchi remained together for over fifty years until his death 2007.Taniguchi was the
