Rural tourism

Any village is a tourist destination and most villagers are very hospitable across globe. Farming as an agricultural choice is getting highly mechanized and therefore requires less labor. This is causing economic pressure on the village leading to exodus of innocent youths to urban landscape.
Rural Tourism has focus on participating in rural lifestyle. It can be a variant of ecotourism. The emphasis is on having an experience in rural setting.

Benefits

It allows creation of alternative source of income in the non-farming sector for the rural folks. The reverse cash flow from cityscape also allows lost folk arts and handicrafts to reinvigorate and thrive locally. It is an ideal and natural setting for rural and urban economic exchange.

Relevance in developing nations

It is especially true of nations where farming land is fragmented due to population growth and then the farmer gets into the credit trap.

Relevance in developed nations

In developed nations, people prefer to take weekends off doing farming or visiting the countryside to destress and take a break from their office routines.
