- BRAF (gene)
V-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1, also known as BRAF, is a human
gene .The BRAF gene makes a
protein called B-RAF, which is involved in sendingsignals in cells and incell growth . This gene may bemutated [ [http://www.pnas.org/cgi/external_ref?access_num=12068308&link_type=MED] Davies H, et al. (2002) Mutations of the BRAF gene in human cancer. This can increase thegrowth and spread ofcancer cells .Some pharmaceutical firms are doing basic research to develop specific inhibitors of B-raf protein for
anticancer use. [ [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=17145850] King AJ et al.
