Good Time Jazz Records

Good Time Jazz Records

Good Time Jazz was an American jazz record label.

The label was founded in 1949 by Lester Koenig in Los Angeles; its first releases were from the Firehouse Five Plus Two. It did both new releases and reissues of classic jazz; among the artists whose music was released on Good Time Jazz were Jelly Roll Morton, Burt Bales, Wally Rose, Luckey Roberts, Willie "The Lion" Smith, Lu Watters, Bob Scobey, Bunk Johnson, Kid Ory, George Lewis, Johnny Wiggs, Sharkey Bonano, and Don Ewell.

Good Time was eventually subsumed by Koenig's Contemporary Records, and ceased operations in 1969. Koenig died in 1977, and the label's material was then sold to Fantasy Records, who has anthologized some of it. It was acquired by the Concord Music Group in 2004 when Fantasy Records was taken over.
