Good Time Jazz was an American
jazz record label.The label was founded in 1949 by
Lester Koenig inLos Angeles ; its first releases were from theFirehouse Five Plus Two . It did both new releases and reissues of classic jazz; among the artists whose music was released on Good Time Jazz wereJelly Roll Morton ,Burt Bales ,Wally Rose ,Luckey Roberts ,Willie "The Lion" Smith ,Lu Watters ,Bob Scobey ,Bunk Johnson ,Kid Ory , George Lewis,Johnny Wiggs ,Sharkey Bonano , andDon Ewell .Good Time was eventually subsumed by Koenig's
Contemporary Records , and ceased operations in 1969. Koenig died in 1977, and the label's material was then sold toFantasy Records , who has anthologized some of it. It was acquired by theConcord Music Group in 2004 whenFantasy Records was taken over.References
