- Iranian destroyer Jamaran
Jamaran is the name of Iran's first domestically produced
destroyer . Little is known about this ship and because Iran calls theirfrigates , destroyers it is possible that this ship should more accurately be classified as a frigate. However this is unlikely considering because Iran calls the "Jamaran" their first domestically produced destroyer and the other frigates which they call destroyers have already been made. If it is in fact a frigate then it would be theMoudge I , which would still make it Iran's first domestically produced "destroyer", as Iran is known for giving different names to the same project. TheFars News Agency mistakenly put a picture of a model of theIranian frigate Alvand in its news article wherein Rear AdmiralHabibollah Sayyari announced the ship would be launched25 November 2007 . Iranian Navy and said that their production set a part of Iran's defensive doctrine which is based on deterrence.
