Sergei Alexandrovich Solovyov (Сергей Соловьёв in Russian) (born
25 August 1944 , Kem',Karelia ) is aRussia n director, producer, writer andactor . He was awarded by the "Russian SSR People's Artist" title.Biography
Solovyov studied at all-Soviet state Institute of Cinematorgaphy, worked in
Leningrad TV and "Mosfilm " studio (1969-1987, film director, writer, producer).Solovyov contributed to the russian/soviet rock movement of the
perestroika era, with such films as "Assa" (1987, starring rock musiciansAfrika (Sergei Bugaev) ,Viktor Tsoi ,Sergey Ryzhenko ) and "Chyornaya roza - emblema pechali, krasnaya roza - emblema lyubvi" (1989). Both soviet films feature much of therussian rock music in soundtracks, especially byBoris Grebenshchikov and his band "Akvarium ".He directed "Dyadya Vanya" ("Uncle Vanya",
Maly theatre ) and "Chayka" (Taganka Theatre , 1994). Solovyov was the President ofMoscow International Film Festival , a professor ofGerasimov Institute of Cinematography and the chairman of Cinematoghapher's Union of Russia from 1994 to 1997.elected filmography
