Selwyn House School in Montreal from 1994 to 1997. After Selwyn House, he attendedDawson College , where he was cut from the basketball squad.By the time he graduated from Florida’s
Pensacola Junior College in 2004, however, he had come into his own on the court. He made the first team all-conference for 2003-04, averaging 9 points, 7 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.At the
University of Nevada, Las Vegas he really made a name for himself, helping lead the Runnin' Rebels to a 30-7 season his senior year, being namedMountain West Conference defensive player of the year and finishing second in theNCAA in shot blocking.Joel Anthony is being counted on by not only the Canadian National Team but also the Miami Heat, his outstanding leaping ability and impeccable timing will be needed in the Olympics and the NBA. He has been referred to as the "freak" of the Canadian team with a 7'4" wingspan.
He was also selected to join the Canadian national team and participated with the squad in three European tours.
